04 February, 2022

From Saturday, 5 February, travellers who were fully vaccinated more than 270 days ago but have not taken a booster shot will be subject to self-isolation and testing requirements (from outside the European Economic Area). In the list of affected countries, the countries of the European Economic Area shift from the red to the orange (yellow) category, which means that these travellers will not be required to self-isolate, except those who have not been vaccinated against COVID-19 and have not had this disease within the last 180 days, or those who were fully vaccinated more than 270 days ago but have not taken a booster shot - they will fall subject to testing requirements. Nuvaxovid and Covishield vaccines will also be recognised as eligible for entry to Lithuania.

To harmonise the requirements for travellers across the European Union (EU), the requirement to bring a negative COVID-19 test result will not be mandatory for those who meet the requirements of the EU Digital COVID Certificate for vaccination and recovery. Testing will not be required from individuals who have had COVID-19 during the 180-day period from PCR test positive confirmation, or who have been fully vaccinated within the last 270 days (270 days’ time limit does not apply to individuals under 18 years of age) or have taken a booster shot. Those who do not meet the above criteria will be required to take a COVID-19 test.

From Saturday, all countries in the EU and the European Economic Area have shifted to the orange (yellow) category, so self-isolation will no longer apply to those who do not meet the above criteria for recovery or vaccination.

Arrivals from outside the EU and outside the European Economic Area, will continue under the red and grey category requirements, i.e., those that do not meet the criteria for recovery or vaccination will be required to take a pre-travel test and self-isolate for 7 days of the day of arrival in the Republic of Lithuania.

Those vaccinated with a newly registered in the EU vaccine against COVID-19 Nuvaxovid will also be subject to testing and self-isolation exemptions. Covishield vaccine manufactured in India under the license of the pharmaceutical company AstraZeneca will also be recognised as eligible for entry to Lithuania.

Please remember to take precautionary measures throughout the trip so as to reduce the spread of the virus. It is important to wear a medical mask, keep distance, avoid gatherings, avoid non-ventilated premises, and to wash hands frequently. People are advised against travelling if they feel cold symptoms (cough, runny nose, heavy breathing, running temperature, etc.).

Please also remember that according to Resolution No 152 of the Government of the Republic of Lithuania of 26 February 2020 declaring a national emergency, border crossing will be restricted preventing entry of foreigners to the Republic of Lithuania. Exemptions for foreigners (from third countries) as regards the entry to the Republic of Lithuania have been laid down in paragraph 2.3 of the mentioned Resolution. For more information on border crossing or the arrival of foreigners, contact the State Border Guard Service (internet website: http://www.pasienis.lt), and the Ministry of Foreign Affairs (internet website: https://urm.lt). Where a foreigner qualifies for at least one of these exemptions allowing their entry to Lithuania, they will also be required to meet the travellers’ requirements detailed in the table below, which apply to all incoming travellers.
