As of 13 July, foreigners living in Sweden, Luxembourg, Portugal, Bulgaria, and Romania will not be able to enter Lithuania. Lithuanian citizens returning from those countries will be required 14 days of isolation. This is provided for by an order of the Minister of Health approved today.
Isolation is recommended for citizens of the aforementioned countries arriving from Croatia and the Czech Republic, persons legally residing in them, and Lithuanian citizens.
The Ministry of Health recalls that this procedure applies to foreigners from the countries of the European Economic Area (EEA), Switzerland, the United Kingdom and the United Kingdom of Great Britain and Northern Ireland.
Foreigners from third countries may enter Lithuania only after obtaining permission from the responsible Lithuanian authorities depending on the nature of the issue: the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, the Ministry of Social Security and Labour, etc. Aliens legally residing in countries other than those listed above, which are included in the EU list of third countries whose residents should not be subject to a temporary restriction on crossing external borders for the purpose of unnecessary travel to the EU, are also allowed to enter the Republic of Lithuania if their countries are not included in the list of the affected countries, i. e. if the incidence rate is less than 25 cases per 100,000 population in those countries in the last 14 days.
The list of countries from which entry is granted is updated weekly, taking into account epidemiological indicators in foreign countries.
As before, Lithuanian citizens are allowed to arrive from any country. However, 14 days of isolation is mandatory for returnees from the countries on the list of the affected countries, i. e. those in which the incidence of the coronavirus infection is higher than 25 cases per 100,000 population in the last 14 days.
