The list of countries most affected by the coronavirus infection (COVID-19) was updated on Friday, 21 August, to take effect as of 24 August. Germany has been added to the list of affected countries, as coronavirus incidence rate exceeds 16 cases per 100 000 population in the last 14 days. Persons arriving from or transiting through the affected countries are required to self-isolate.

Currently, 9 countries of the European Economic Area have less than 16 cases per 100 000 population: Slovenia, Norway, Lithuania, Italy, Slovakia, Estonia, Finland. Hungary and Latvia. Lithuania’s incidence rate is 12.8.

The following countries have seen the rise in the incidence rate over 25 cases per 100 000 population during the weak: Ireland. Austria, Croatia, Poland and Greece. Cyprus and Gabon are between 16-25 rate limits. The following countries have been included in the list of the most affected countries due to the rapid deterioration in the epidemiological situation with the rate rising above 25 cases: Liechtenstein, Belize, Trinidad and Tobago.

While Belarus, Algeria, Azerbaijan, Greenland and Ghana have been removed from the list.

Persons who have returned or arrived from countries on the list of countries most affected by coronavirus infection or who have travelled through these countries shall be deemed to have been exposed to the virus. Isolation will be mandatory in their case. Isolation however will not be mandatory for those who travel by air without leaving the airport transit area or travel in transit from a country unaffected by a coronavirus infection through Poland, with essential stops only, such as refuelling, hygiene, etc., in Poland.

People travelling by air or sea from the affected country must complete and submit to the staff of the NPHC the NPHC registration confirmation or a completed paper form before they leave the airport or seaport.  Those travelling by land are obliged to register with the NPHC within 12 hours from the moment of arrival in the Republic of Lithuania.

Foreigners arriving from the countries on the list of countries affected by coronavirus infection with the incidence rate above 25 cases over the last 14 days, must have a test for COVID-19 (coronavirus infection) taken at maximum 72 hours before the entry to Lithuania and negative results thereof, except cases provided for in the order of the Minister for Health.

Lithuanian citizens and persons lawfully residing in Lithuania arriving from the countries on the list of countries most affected by coronavirus infection, if the country of travelling or transit had more than 25 cases in the last 14 calendar days, must have a test for COVID-19 (coronavirus infection) taken at maximum 72 hours before the entry to the Republic of Lithuania and negative results thereof, or contact the Hotline 1808 or other establishment that performs Coronavirus tests within 24 hours of the entry, except cases provided for in the order of the Minister for Health.

The list of most affected countries is subject to weekly updates depending on the epidemiological situation.
