Following a significant improvement in the epidemiological situation, ten European countries and three islands have been removed from the list of affected countries. This means that neither testing nor self-isolation will be required for arrivals from these regions.
Austria, Bulgaria, the Czech Republic, Iceland, Poland, Malta, Romania, Slovakia, Finland, Hungary, as well as Thasos, Mallorca and Madeira islands are no longer on the list of affected countries effective as of 21 June. These regions are also in the green area on the weekly updated the morbidity map of the European Centre for Disease Prevention and Control (ECDC).
A COVID-19 test and 10-day self-isolation are mandatory for those arriving from countries subject to enhanced controls, as well as for those from countries and territories in the red and grey areas; those arriving from the orange (yellow) area will be only required to self-isolate (see table below).
Please note that the colour of the countries on the maps depends on their most affected region. If most of the country is marked in orange (yellow) on the ECDC map but at least one region of the country is red, the whole country will be classified as red in Lithuania’s list of affected countries. Third countries (non-European Economic Area countries) that are not on the ECDC maps are classified as grey.
The following changes will become effective as of this Monday:
- children under 7 returning from abroad are advised against attending education establishments if their travelling party falls subject to mandatory self-isolation (the recommendation is valid for the period of self- isolation of the travelling party);
- self-isolation will not apply to children aged 7-16 if they have a negative result of a PCR test taken within 72 hours or of an antigen test taken within 48 hours (calculating from the moment of sample collection). If the test is taken in Lithuania, the child will be required to self-isolate until a negative test response is received.
This week, a number of other changes relevant to travellers have come into effect. As of 17 June, testing and self-isolation exemptions will only apply in the case of those with the past COVID-19 infection who had been found positive through PCR test taken within 180 days before the arrival in Lithuania. In the case of those vaccinated, the exemptions will apply at least two weeks after the last vaccination required for complete vaccination. Self-isolation time may be shortened when this time is due.
Testing and self-isolation will not be required also in the case of those with the past COVID-19 infection and vaccinated with one dose. For the exemptions to apply, 14 days will have passed of the dose of the vaccine.
Travellers can use the EU Digital COVID Certificate as evidence of the past infection, complete vaccination or a valid negative test result.
